Why in Linux do I sometimes see 2 queues for the same domain?

Question

If a user sends a message to someone@yahoo.com and someoneelse@YAHOO.COM I notice that two out directories for the domain yahoo.com are created – namely "YAHOO.COM" & "yahoo.com" as below

[log]# dir /opt/gordano/mail/out
Yahoo.com
YAHOO.COM
eIQnetworks.com
naturrio.com.pl
somecompany.dom
other.do.uk
fourandtwentyblackbirds.det
mothergoose.rhymes.dom
lucy.peanuts.do.be
incense.do.in
sympathy.cards.do.nl
hotmial.dom
lunchwerks.do.uk
othercompany.dom
yahoo.com
[log]#

Answer

In releases prior to 3063 there was a case sensitivity issue in the handling of outgoing mail queues. This could result in more than one queue for the same domain depending on whether the letters forming the domain name were lower or upper case. This did not result in any issues with the
delivery of mail other than the fact that multiple queues were used.

The queue handling has now been modified to remove case sensitivity.
