Why do I repeatedly get a Java Applet out of date error?

Question

I repeatedly get a java applet out of date message in GMS Webmail and when I say OK to update nothing appears to happen and the same error box gets re presented.

Answer

GMS Webmail uses Java to give a professional interface to those who read their email.

Some browsers do not reload the applet properly when requested to do so. So Gordano has added code to the Java applets to check the version of the applet and software and produce a warning if they do not match. In particular IE 5.5 tends not to refresh Java applets correctly.

If you are getting applet problems after a reload or the browser fails to refresh then the best thing to do is either shutdown and restart the browser or force a manual refresh by pressing the CTRL + F5 keys simultaneously.
