Why do I get a warning from GMS Anti-Virus that an update has occured?

Question

I keep getting messages telling me that a GMS Anti-Virus update has occurred. The body of the message contains the text "A GMS Anti-Virus signature file update has occured and will be installed on your system".

Answer

This message indicates that updated GMS Anti-Virus files have been successfully obtained from Gordano’s update service. These updates will be installed on your system automatically during the next update window as defined on your system.

You can disable this message through the GUI in the GMS Anti-Virus section under scanner > Signature Files and deselect "Send update warnings" then clicking "Update".

Note: Prior to Version 7.02 Unix users will have to manually copy the files from the update directory as per the slightly different message they receive.
