Why are addresses in my Contacts not being used for address completion?

Question

When an Outlook profile is first enabled, the "Contacts" folder will appear under the Outlook Address Book. This can normally be accessed from the Outlook toolbar or by composing a message, clicking the "To" button and to finding the "Contacts" folder from the drop down menu.

If this is not present, please see below.

Answer

If for any technical reason you have been instructed by Support to delete your local PST cache, the Outlook Address Book will cache the id of the old PST contacts folder and thus, does not display the updated folder. The GMS connector will detect this and remove the bad reference to the old contacts folder id.

To re-enable this, right click on the "Contacts" folder under the GMS Message Store and then "Properties". Now, find the tab labelled "Outlook Address Book" and enable the only checkbox on this page.

Outlook will need to be restarted for this to take effect.
