What is the SMTP MAIL clause?

Answer

The SMTP MAIL clause defines the sender of the mail message. There is no requirement for this address to be the same as the address given in the From clause of the message itself. The GMS servers can however run a check to ensure that the address passed in the MAIL clause matches that in the message itself.
