What is a Hotfix?

Answer

Public hotfixes are only created where there is a major security issue discovered with GMS and full details of the issue are posted in this Knowledge Base and to the Gordano Discussion List. Private hotfixes may be created for customers with special support contracts in line with specific requirements.

A new version of GMS is normally only released when we introduce new functionality into the product. HotFixes are the mechanism for delivering fixes between full version releases.

HotFixes for a specific version are cumulative. That is, if we release a later HotFix for a particular file, fixes included in the earlier one will be included in latest. This means that you only ever need to apply the latest HotFix for a file to get all the bug fixes for that file.

Hotfixes are also sometimes know as Patches.
