What does the error "cant append mailbox" mean in IMAP?

I get the following error in my IMAP log file – what does it mean?

IMAP day month year time F 6163 thread_no. FMAppendFolder failed Sent Items (153)
IMAP day month year time A 6266 thread_no. session_id. NO cant append mailbox

The message is actually written to the sent folder correctly.

Answer

This was due to the way IMAP was interpreting the size value in the registry for users where a maxaccountsize value had been set.

The way IMAP interprets this value has been fixed and this error should no longer occur.
