What are POP and IMAP?

Answer

POP and IMAP are different methods of accessing mailboxes. The main difference between them is that POP downloads mail from the server and deletes it, storing it instead on a client machine, whilst IMAP stores the mailbox on the server, and the client accesses mail from there.
