What are Heuristics?

Question

The Command Software Anti-Virus engine(CSAV)uses Heuristics to help determine the presence of a virus. What are Heuristics?

Answer

Heuristics involves the use of a problem-solving technique in which the most appropriate solution of several found by alternative methods is selected at successive stages of a program for use in the next step of the program.

The use of heuristics allows GMS Anti-Virus to detect viruses before other Anti-Virus vendors (Viruses such as Melissa, BadTrans and MTX were all detected with Heuristics). Heuristics can detect and act on new viruses released into the wild before any of the AV vendors are aware of the existence of that virus.

Customers using GMS Anti-Virus, enjoy this protection automatically.
