If I use GMS Anti-Virus, how quickly can I expect to be protected against a new virus?

Question

If I use GMS Anti-Virus, how quickly can I expect to be protected against a new virus?

Answer

Protection from new viruses is provided by way of updated definition files. These definition files are provided by the Anti Virus company who’s engine is used in GMS Anti-Virus.

Command software guarantee to have updated definition files available for a new virus within 24 hours of notification of the virus. Their record for releasing updates is 8 minutes.

Gordano has a special arrangement with Command Software whereby we receive early updates to the definition files (prior to them being publicly available). These are then immediately made available to all GMS Anti-Virus customers.

GMS Anti-Virus makes use of a unique update mechanism that sends the updated definition files, via email, to each GMS Anti-Virus customer at the interval requested by that customer. This interval can be set as low as 15 minutes, to ensure that the most up to date definition files are always in use.
