I want to install an MX Backup server. My main server runs GMS complete with GMS Anti-Spam and GMS Anti-Virus. Does the MX Backup server also need to run GMS Anti-Spam and GMS Anti-Virus?

Does an MXBackup server need to have exactly the same options and facilities installed as are on my primary server?

Answer

No. The mail that is ‘held’ by MXBackup will be processed and scanned by GMS Anti-Spam and GMS Anti-Virus etc. on the main server, when it becomes available, in the usual way.
