I can't use GMS Webmail via a proxy?

Answer

There may be several reasons why you are unable to use GMS Webmail if you connect to it via a proxy server.

  1. The proxy is not allowing Java to pass through ? speak to your system administrator an request that they enable Java through the proxy server
  2. The proxy is not allowing cookies through ? speak to your system administrator and either request that they allow cookies to be used, or configure GMS Webmail so that it does not require Cookies to maintain session information. (This can cause problems though if multiple connections come from the same IP address as happens when you are sharing a NAT connection with others.)
  3. The proxy server is not configured to allow connections to the port required to access GMS Webmail ? speak to your system administrator and request that he opens the appropriate port, or re-configure GMS Webmail to run on a port that is allowed.
