You can configure GMS Communication Server or GMS List Server to require confirmation of certain actions.
This means that if for example, a user wants to join a list, they are sent a message asking them to confirm that they wish to join. This prevents people from maliciously joining addresses to a list.
This also allows you to enforce an opt in policy with double confirmations, meaning you comply with proposed laws.
