Question
When you go on holiday, you may decide that you don’t want email from the
lists that you have joined. In FAQ90, you saw that
GLCommunicator has the ability to “Suspend” a membership and “Resume” it again
later. GLCommunicator also has the ability to suspend mail delivery “for” a given
number of days… so you don’t have to remember to send the Resume command
when you come back from holiday!
Answer
Any list member can send an email message to the list with “-suspend”
appended – this will suspend them indefinitely. If you want to be
automatically resumed, simply put the word “FOR” followed by the number of
days in the body of the message. For example, to suspend yourself from
this mailing list for 14 days, simply email:
tips-suspend@gordano.com
with the body of the message containing:
for 14
And fourteen days later, you will start receiving email again.
Notes:
- You can also send these requests using the other two formats of list
server command. That is you could email:tips-request@gordano.com
with the message body:
suspend for 14
or you could email:
list@gordano.com
with the message body:
suspend tips for 14
- You can change the name of the “suspend” and “for” commands if you wish.
This can be done from the List page: GLCom>Commands>Aliases.
