How can I select the GMS Anti-Virus scanner from the drop down menu?

Question

I have a valid key for GMS Anti-Virus. I have changed the settings on my system and I am no longer able to select the GMS Anti-Virus virus scanner from the drop down menu. How can I set it as the active scanner?

Answer

This can occur if you select the option "Please select a scanner" from the drop down list and then click on the "Set" button twice.

Note: This does not stop the scanner functioning, it simply stops you getting at the settings.

To restore the system to its previous state it is necessary to reset a system variable. To do this go to the Support > System Variables page, select the variable "VscanVendor" from the scrollable list at the top of the page, enter "CS_DLL" in the "New Value" text area and then click on the "Change Value" button.

If you now return to the Scanner > Select Scanner page you should see the GMS Anti-Virus scanner option has been restored to the drop down menu.
