Can I use a filter to add a tag to a message?

I have a filter in my GMS Webmail client but I need it to add a tag for sorting later. Can GMS Webmail do this?

Yes.
GMS Webmail can now apply any tag you create to any mail which matches your filter criteria. Simply add the application of a tag to your filter actions.
