Can I control how many messages are loaded at a time in GMS Webmail Professional

Question

When users select a mailbox with a large number of messages in webmail (greater than 500) the first 500 messages are loaded, then more messages are loaded in the background.

This can cause problems when trying to sort the mailbox, is there anything I can do about this?

Answer

GMS Webmail Professional loads messages in batches of 500 to improve performance. By doing this your mailbox data is immediately available to view, rather than there being a long delay whilst the entire mailbox loads.

This can however result in some inconsistent behaviour when sorting mailboxes. If you are experiencing problems with this, you can control this using a variable;

GridLoadBlockSize=xxxx

where “xxxx” is the number of messages webmail should load in at a time. This variable can be set for the entire system under the Support -> Variables menu, or for a domain under the domain level Support -> Variables, or finally for a single user under the Administration -> Mail -> Users -> User Variables menu.
