Question
This applies in situations where you may have a domain such as company.dom and you wish to create virtual domains for sales.company.dom, support.company.dom, etc.
Answer
By default, when a domain is created, for example company.dom, GMS Mail and GMS Webmail create an alias of *.company.dom.
To be able to create virtual domains of sales.company.dom, support.company.dom, etc you should remove this alias first.
To remove the alias go to Domains > Aliases and delete the *.company.dom alias.
GMS automatically enters the domain alias *.company.dom when the domain is first created due to the fact that some older mail systems on the Internet use the hostname of the sending server when responding to incoming mail. The * in the alias means that mail for all sub domains will be accepted by default.
