Question
Personalities are a powerful feature of GMS Webmail which are similar to Outlook’s "Identities". They allow users to set up a number of email addresses which they can use as the sender of outgoing emails. This email address may not be on the local mail server, or even exist at all.
Answer
By using the options available within GMS controlled by a Users Profiles setting, the administrator can restrict specific users to only create personalities that are local (or indeed to not be able to create any additional personalities at all). This means that the domain name portion of the personality will have to be the local domain; otherwise it will not be accepted. If a user attempts to use user@external.dom, the system will recognize that this domain is not local and therefore not allow it.
