Answer
The administrator can exercise complete control over message processing. Like all GMS products, GMS Communication Server comes with sensible defaults. For example, GMS Communication Server by default removes a number of headers from any messages posted to a list. All of the following headers are removed from each post:
- Content-Length:
- Errors-To:
- Precedence:
- Return-Path:
- Return-Receipt-To:
- X-Confirm-Reading-To:
- Disposition-Notification-To:
These clauses are added to headers of messages by some mail clients to add additional functionality. For example, the “Return-Receipt-To:” clause will cause a mail server or client to respond by returning a message to the sender.
Can you imagine the effect of sending a list post out to 100,000 people and having a receipt returned for each one of them?
