Question
LDAP is used to provide directory services so can GMS use it?
Answer
GMS may use LDAP for the authentication of users.
LDAP provides “directory services”, this means that it stores information about objects. These objects can be anything (LDAP itself doesn’t care, its up to the person configuring it).
One thing most people store in LDAP is all their user account information (e.g. username, password, printer-access rights, real name, telephone number, fax number, name of manager, etc.).
Note: From version 7, the LDAP authentication is integrated into the main product so you no longer need to obtain it from the Accessory Pack
