How do I log the communications between the Outlook clients and the WorkgroupShare server?

Summary

Creating a log of the communications can help in diagnosing synchronization problems between the WorkgroupShare client and the WorkgroupShare server.

Detail

Configuring Server-side logging
Open the Administrator program and double click on the Settings icon. Select the ‘Logging’ tab and tick the box to enable logging. Click OK. The Settings details page will now indicate that logging is enabled and it will show the path to where the log files will be placed. Logging will start as soon as the server next communicates with a client. Selecting the ‘Include item details’ option will record the details of items being synchronized. Note that this can make the log files significantly larger.

Please remember that the logging function is a diagnostic tool that may have an impact on the performance of the WorkgroupShare server. The log files can become very large in size. You should disable this facility once you have finished your testing.

Configuring Client-side logging
To turn on client-side logging. From the Outlook menu, select Tools | Share | Settings | Logging. Tick the box to enable logging and click OK. Selecting the ‘Include item details’ option will record the details of items being synchronized. The log file will be automatically generated in the specified folder the next time that Outlook synchronizes with the server.
