What is alert 8296?

Answer

The administrator of GMS has set up the server so that every connection over POP3 must use SSL.. The POP3 client will not be able to execute any commands until the SSL connection is correctly set up.

In this case session Undefined was processing a connection from a POP3 client at Undefined. The POP3 client issued the command

 Undefined

and GMS rejected it with

-ERR Must issue a STARTTLS command first.

To resolve this problem you will need to make sure that

  • the remote client conforms to the SSL or STARTTLS standard; and
  • the remote client is correctly configured.
