Can I use Softalk Share Server in Conjunction with Business Contact Manager?

Detail

  • Outlook 2007 and Business Contact Manager 2007. Softalk Share Server can be used with Business Contact Manager 2007 under Outlook 2007. Outlook can be configured to use Softalk Share Server as either the default data store or as a secondary data store.
  • Outlook 2003 and Business Contact Manager 1.0. Under Outlook 2003 and Business Contact Manager 1.0, Outlook must use Softalk Share Server as a secondary data store; that is to say you must have a PST message store as your default mail delivery location. In this case, using Softalk Share Server as the default store with a Business Contact Manager store will cause the following error at startup:

Your .oft file for message class IPM.Contact.BCM.Account has a wrong version. Requested version 1.00.1616.00, .oft form version .

Furthermore, in this configuration, custom forms used in Business Contact Manager will not function.

Outlook versions prior to Outlook 2003 11.6568.6568 SP2 are not compatible with Business Contacts Manager. Earlier versions of Outlook will crash when a folder is selected in the Softalk Share Server data store.

Note: As Business Contact Manager uses its own message store it may not have any interaction with Softalk Share Server; contacts and tasks appearing under the Business Contact Manager message store may not be made available to other users of Softalk Share Server (shared), ergo will not appear under the user’s subfolder in the shared data folder of other users
