Detail
Yes, it is possible to reject a message received for a specific address at your domain using a rule in Content Filtering. You may wish to do this if you have an address that is no longer being used. NB This could be done by deleting the user account and configuring the “Reject the message” action in the Unknown Recipients settings for your domain. However this would globally reject messages for all unknown recipients, rather than for a specific recipient.
In Content Filtering, create a rule as follows.
Reject name@domain.com
Check messages when they arrive. If message sent to *name@domain.com* and message not sent from MailScan delete
message and send Delivery Status Notification [Failure] to sender
Set the message Subject to:
Delivery Status Notification [Failure]
Set the message body to:
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.
A message that you sent, “<Subject>”, could not be delivered to all of its recipients. The following address(es) failed
<Recipients>
550 <Recipients> …User unknown.
NB. If you wanted to reject messages received for several different email addresses, these could all be listed in the same rule.
