You will need to use the Task Scheduler in Windows 2000 or the AT command in Windows NT to start and stop the mail server at the required times. Otherwise you would need to source a third party scheduler. You must create a scheduled task to shut down the mail server at a specified time, prior to starting the backup, and another scheduled task to restart the server when it is anticipated that the backup will be complete. (You would probably still want the WorkgroupMail server to launch on startup, as is set by default).
When running WorkgroupMail as a service you can use the following commands to start and stop WorkgroupMail
net start WorkgroupMail
net stop Workgroupmail
If you are running WorkgroupMail as an executable then we can provide a program called StopWM.exe that will shut down the WorkgroupMail Server. The program can be restarted by specifying the path and filename of the wmsvc.exe file
