Question
GMS Anti-Virus scans mail (and attachments) directly arriving at the mail server. It offers very high throughput with a negligible impact on system throughput and performance. GMS Anti-Virus is highly efficient, multi-threaded and runs more than 200% faster than typical command line based scanners.
Answer
In builds later than 3052 you can safely ban DLL attachments and the GMS Anti-Virus updates will still occur correctly.
If you are on an earlier build and use the GMS Anti-Virus automatic update feature to obtain regular signature (or definition) file updates, please ensure that you do not use the GMS Anti-Spam > Content > Attachments facility to ban attachments with the extension .dll. Otherwise, the updated GMS Anti-Virus files will fail to reach your server and be rejected. You should also allow through file with the extensions .def and .tx1.
