Why does the Signature updates page in GMS Anti-Virus show "Engine Version: not installed"?

Question

I have installed a version of GMS running on the Linux operating system. When I go to the Scanner > Signature Updates page the virus scanner engine is shown as not being installed. Despite this the virus scanner is functioning and viruses are being successfully caught.

Answer

The virus scanner is working and you are fully protected from viruses. This issue only concerns displaying the wrong information in the user interface.

This is due to the fact that the system variable "VscanProgram" has not been set on the system. You will need to manually set this variable in order for the Engine Version to be correctly displayed.

To do this go to the Support > System Variables page and from the scrollable list at the top of the page select "VscanProgram", in the "New Value" text area enter the string "/opt/gordano/mail/bin/command" and then click on the "Change Value" button. The Engine Version along with the dates for the current definition files should now be correctly displayed.

Note: "/opt/gordano/mail" is the default installation directory for GMS on the Linux platform, if you have installed to a different location you will need to amend this string accordingly.
