Why does my Custom Robot fail on version 7A?

Answer

If you are running any custom made robots with GMS version 7.01.0023, you will need to ensure that your robot is able to cope with extra parameters being supplied to it on the command line. In Version 7.01.0023 the SMTP service automatically adds the following parameters to the end of each robot command line “-password x” (where x is the account password) variable.

This means that if your robot is designed to expect a specific number of parameters then the extra parameters may cause the robot to behave unexpectedly and fail.

A resolution is to remove the Password parameter from the registry for this account. To do this use regedt32 and select:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>InternetShopper>Mail>[select robot domain name]>Users. Double click the line from the right hand pane starting with the domain name. In the Multi String Editor locate and remove the line refering to Password.
If a normal robot select the name of the robot account above.

Close the registry.

The robot should now work correctly.

Our development engineers are aware of this issue and it will be fixed in a future release.
