Why does GMS Webmail produce a warning when I rename a folder?

Answer

If you are using filters to manage your incoming mail by directing mail that matches certain criteria to other folders, you need to be careful that when you change any of those folder names that the filter is also amended to point to the new name. This is particularly true when changing languages as some of the folders are automatically renamed.

Since renaming folders can cause undesirable results, a warning is now generated by GMS Webmail before a folder name change completes if a filter directs mail to that folder.

Prior to changing folder names, if continuity is required, we recommend that the filter be altered so that it filters the selected mail to the new folder. The change to the filter will not happen automatically so please ensure that changes to the filter are made manually.
