Why does GMS Communication Server stop working when my free disk space gets low?

Question

When the free disk space on my server gets low, my lists stop working, then start again when more space becomes available. Why is this?

Answer

GMS Communication Server has built in protection so that it stops processing when free disk space falls below ten percent of the total disk size.

List and bulk mail takes a lower precedence over normal email so when disk space gets scarce, the remaining disk space is used by email in preference.

As soon as the amount of free disk space rises above 10 percent the bulk mail services will continue.
