Question

My users have started to get an error message when sending SMS messages – I use clickatell as my SMS provider. Why is this happening?

Answer

At the end of November 2007, Clickatell introduced a new policy whereby only registered numbers could send with a designated "sender" number.

This change was made to prevent spoofing of phone numbers when sending messages.

To use the SMS service now, you have to activate each phone number with Clickatell – logon to your Clickatell control panel and use the “Manage Sender IDs” menu to add phone numbers.

Once you have registered a number, you should be able to send messages using that number.
