Why do lasge log files cause a trap on Linux?

Answer

There was an issue with log files growing large enough to exceed the maximum file size on Linux (2GB). Once this limit was reached a trap file was generated the next time that GMS attempted to write to the log file. We have now changed the way log files are created and when a log file approaches this size, we automatically roll over to a new log file.
