Why do I get the "Virus update request is outstanding" message from GMS Anti-Virus?

Question

This message is normally generated when, for example, a request for virus update files is delayed and overtaken by a later request.

Answer

To restore synchronization, go to the Support > System Variables section of the interface, and select the

vppcommandsigrequestoutstanding

variable from the selector window, then set a new value of 0 (zero) and click on the Change Value button.

Finally go to the Scanner > Signature Updates page, and reset the timed event by pressing the UPDATE button. This will ensure that the request count is realigned and will stop this warning message from being generated erroneously.

NOTE: In builds 3136 and later, the method of updating the signature and engine files has been improved so you should no longer see this message.
