Why can't Outlook send email to GMS v4?

Question

I am experiencing problems sending mail through GMS v4 with MS Outlook

Answer

Outlook requires that all SMTP response data is transferred in a single tcp/ip packet.
For instance, it does not understand multi-line SMTP responses unless they are all contained within one packet.

Users experiencing this problem should upgrade to at least V4.30b of GMS which implements this method of transferring the data.
However this is not an ideal solution as ultimately these packets may be split by the tcp/ip protocol over which we have no control.
The only proper fix would be for Outlook to be able to read the data across packets.
