Why can't I unpack the install files on Solaris?

Answer

There is a problem with the Solaris tar utility that means that sometimes it will not correctly unpack an archive file. The file "appears" to be corrupt.

Solaris users should use the gnu version of tar to unpack archives, which can be downloaded from www.gnu.org.
