Why can't I set my DNS cache to 1024K on Solaris?

Answer

We used to default to allowing 1024K cache limits for DNS caching on the Solaris however this was a mistake as Solaris imposes a limit of 64K.

We now automatically limit the DNS cache size to 64K, this can be set to a lower figure but can not be increased above this level.
