Why am I unable to access my WAP interface?

Question

I am attempting to access my email via the WAP interface using a mobile phone supplied by the UK provider Vodafone.

After I enter the URL I receive a "Time out on Gateway" error.

Answer

We have been advised by one of our customers that this mobile phone company confirmed on 24th July 2002 that their WAP firewall is configured to allow access on ports 80 for http and port 443 for https only.

Access on any other ports is not permitted.

To resolve this your GMS server will need to be configured to use port 80 for the WWW Administration GUI, configured under Incoming>Ports.

This is not a problem with GMS, but is a restriction imposed by the mobile operator.

Please note: You should ensure this port configuration does not conflict with other software running on your server.
