Question
Version 3 presents a complex view of IP addresses and domain name. This has been simplified in subsequent versions.
Answer
Version 3 has a large number of ways that IP addresses and domains can be used – it is a complex topic but, to summarise:
- Each domain name should use the same server name
- Each full (independent) domain name must have a unique IP address
- Multiple domains can be run from a single IP address by using incoming domain aliases – enter these on the Incoming page of the NTDomain CPL.
- POP domains should have the same IP address as the root domain
Refer to the GMS Mail and NTDomain manuals for more details.
