Question
GMS saves settings in a range of variables for System, Domain and User settings. Where are these variables stored?
Answer
On Windows systems GMS stores variables within the System Registry as follows:
Variable | Location |
---|---|
System Variables | HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareInternetShopperMailUsers<No_Name> |
Domain Variables | HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareInternetShopperMail<domain>Users<No_Name> |
User Variables | HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareInternetShopperMail<domain>Users<UserName> |
On Unix systems files are used to store these variables under the GMS directory structure as follows. Note that the files are hidden so will not be returned to a standard directory listing.
Variable | Location |
---|---|
System Variables | /opt/gordano/mail/users/no_name.reg |
Domain Variables | /opt/gordano/mail/<domain>/users/no_name.reg |
User Variables | /opt/gordano/mail/<domain>/users/username.reg |
Note: It is highly recommended that the administration interface is used for the editing of variables. Gordano can not support systems where failure is caused by direct editing of the system registry. This is particularly true on Unix systems where the files used to hold the variables are specially formed and contain null characters to separate multi string registry entries.
