Symptoms
After installing the WorkgroupShare client, or when starting Outlook, it is possible that Outlook will crash and then restart in a loop.
Cause
This can happen if the Redemption Helper Outlook Extension DLL is not registered correctly in the client.
The problem can also be caused by a corrupt recurrence on an appointment, that in turn causes the WorkgroupShare client to terminate unexpectedly when it tries to synchronize. This in turn causes Outlook to stop running. This error is more likely to occur in Outlook 2003.
Resolution
Click Start, Run and type the following command. Check that a success message is returned.
regsvr32 “C:Program FilesWorkgroupShare Clientredemption.dll”
If the problem occurs while installing the client and the above does not resolve the issue, remove the WorkgroupShare client and then reset all recurrences. Installation should then complete as expected and Outlook can be started without terminating.
If the problem occurs at any other time when starting Outlook, first stop the WorkgroupShare server process to prevent synchronization and then reset all recurrences in Outlook. Then restart the WorkgroupShare server and restart Outlook.
In this case, running Outlook with the /cleanreminders option does not help.
