What was Krakatoa?

Answer

Krakatoa was a small volcanic island in the Sunda Strait between sumatra and Java. On 27-Aug-1883, with the greatest explosion in history, the island erupted; the explosion was heard 3,000 miles away, ashes were thrown 50 miles into the air and circled the earth for months, and tidal waves in Java and Sumatra caused 36,000 deaths.
