What is VBS?

Answer

VBS is Microsoft’s Visual Basic Scripting Edition (also known as VBScript). This language is a slimmed down version of the Visual Basic language. The result is a very small language that is easy to use. It is implemented as a fast, portable, lightweight interpreter for use in World Wide Web browsers and other applications that use ActiveX controls, OLE Automation servers, and Java applets as well as being one of the main languages of choice for virus authors.

Many virus writers use VBScripting due to the vulnerabilities documented in the past in certain client software. Well-known viruses which used the power of Visual Basic Script are the ILOVEYOU virus, the kak worm virus, and the Melissa virus.
