What is DUN?

Question

or what is Dialup Networking?

Answer

DUN stands for Dial-Up Networking, it is a feature of Windows NT/Windows 2000 that enables a computer to be connected to a network via a modem or other dialup device.

To connect to the Internet using DUN you configure Dial-Up Networking (DUN) to dial a Point of Presence (POP) and log into your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Your ISP will need to provide certain information, such as the gateway address and your computer’s IP address (this may be fixed or dynamic) along with a username and password to authenticate the connection.

Gordano software can make use of a DUN connection to provide Internet Connectivity, connections can be scheduled to run at pre determined intervals thereby reducing any costs payable to the telephone service provider.
