What is a NOC?

Answer

NOC is an acronym for "Network Operations Center".

An NOC is where ISP’s or large businesses house and control the majority of their IT equipment. Typically there will be backup and emergency power supplies, special cooling systems and high security to protect both equipment and data.

GMS is installed by ISPs and ASPs at their NOC in order to provide customers or users with messaging services such as webmail, Instant Messaging, Anti-virus, Anti-spam, etc. options. The ability to delegate control of certain parts of the system operation makes GMS attractive to ASPs. An ASP can use one copy of GMS to support hundreds of
customers while allowing each customer to manage the addition and creation of accounts. This dramatically reduces the TCO for the ASP while giving appropriate control to their customers.
