What is a Mail Queue?

Answer

A mail queue is a folder containing one or more email messages which have been processed by the server and are waiting for onbound transmission to another SMTP server.

Mail queues are processed, by the POST service which implements all the necessary DNS lookups to determine where a queue for a remote server should be sent.

GMS can process many of these mail queues simultaneously, resulting in a very high throughput of outbound email messages.
