What does the error "Session locked cannot destroy" in my WWW log mean?

Question

I’m seeing these messages in my WWW log and I don’t know what they mean:

WWW 28 Jul 2002 09:33:29.976 F 7384 Session locked: 123.123.123.123 8000 12368 (1) – cannot destroy

What does this mean?

Answer

This means that someone has connected to your server (created a session)
and for some reason the session has expired and the WWW service is unable
to delete the session.

The report about the server being unable to destroy the session is normally due to the server being busy and it
should eventually be destroyed. It has no effect on the functionality of
the server and is for information only.
