What does "receipt" mean in the SMTP log files?

Question

The following line may be seen in the SMTP log file (files that start SM in the /Log directory):

SMTP 20 Aug 2001 16:46:39 S 3065 5631 receipt
abc@gordano.com test@gordano.com "FW: test"

Answer

This line indicates that a response message has been sent because the sender requested a delivery status notification. This message will tell the sender that the message has arrived and been placed in the mailbox for the user.

So, if you send a message and configure your mail client to give a delivery receipt (not a read receipt) then this is what you will see in the log. In addition, you actually can see the subject of the message concerned.

Delivery status notification can be switched off or on under
system>messages section of GMS.
