In Outlook, why is the domain footer received as text attachment?

Question

It has come to my attention that our domain footer is received as a text attachment by outside recipients, but only when the email includes an attachment.

Answer

NTMail attaches the footer to the end of the message, using a Content Disposition in-line to cause it to display with the rest of the text. Unfortunately, Outlook and Outlook Express don’t support this. Therefore, in these e-mail clients, if there is another attachment between the text items, the second text item just becomes another attachment. This is due to the nature of the e-mail clients themselves and is not a problem with NTMail.
