I am unable to download mail from a POP account

Question

At the www interface I can log on, and do what I need to do, including read mail, however with the exact same account from my pop client I get a password error.

I tried both restating the password, and deleting the account, neither fixed the problem.

I now notice that any accounts I now add to that domain do not allow a pop client to collect the mail.

Answer

I had set two domains to point to the same IP address, this obviously has created a conflict within POP, and thus was unable to identify the users in those conflicted domains.

The same IP address should never be allocated to more than one domain as one or other of the domains will not work as expected.

If you are short of IP addresses you should go through the process of establishing the second domain as a virtual domain as opposed to a full domain.
